IML label is an embedded label made using injection-moulding technology. As a result of injection molding, it forms a single whole with the packaging material. The IML label does not deform, does not wear out, and is resistant to moisture and mechanical damage during transportation, storage, and shelving. Today it is one of the most modern, practical and multifunctional types of labels.

Peshta has been successfully producing fused labels for companies for many years. In this article, we want to tell you the stages of manufacturing IML-labels in Peshta from order acceptance to shipment.

Order acceptance and planning stage

We have received a request for printing an embedded label. The sales manager discusses the details of the application with the customer: the type of label material, what the packaging is for, label dimensions, circulation volume, and production time.

If the design of the future label is not initially available and it is necessary to developit, designer starts creatingit. If the design and layouts are available, the customer passes them to the manager, and we move on to the next stage of production.

Next, the planning department manager enters the process. The order is accepted and a process card is issued. The order is placed in the schedule of printing and cutting based on the workload of production and the date of shipment, which was discussed in advance with the customer.

Prepress preparation stage

Mockups of the future label are submitted to the prepress department. Our specialists adapt the layouts and make the necessary edits to ensure that the layout is properly prepared for the highest quality printing. Layouts must be in Coral Draw or Adobe Illustrator format, and you must also provide a Jpeg format for previewing the layout.

Pre-print stage

The most important stage is the preparation of printed forms. They are created from special soft polymer plates. Files prepared in advance in the prepress department are transmitted via a computer to the copy-editing section. With the help of computer technology, we apply a unique image from the layout to a polymer plate – a future printing plate. Then the polymer plate undergoes polymerization and hardens under the influence of light inside special equipment. The image is fixed on the plate and becomes quite rigid.

The last stage of manufacturing a printed form is its washing in a special chemical solution. All unnecessary "whitespace" elements are washed out and weget a ready-made printed form. Then thePrague printing plates are mounted on special printing cylinders.

At the same time, the color-center of Peshta prepares mixed inks for printing to maximize color penetration.

Step of printing the embedded label

The role-playing printing machine needs to be adjusted for further high-quality printing of the entire print run: colorful sections are summed up and a test sample is printed. After that, we start printing the entire print run of labels, and directly during production we control the print quality using AVT Helios equipment. The printing speed of our printing press is from 90 to 115 metres per minute.

Post-printing stage

The print run of the fused labels is printed and sent to the post-printing department for cutting. The speed of our cutting equipment reaches up to 80 meters per minute. The cut label is checked according to the template and completed for further shipment.
